Given f(x) = 2x + 3 and g(x) = x - 9, what is f(x) + g(x)?

Solution:

f(x) = 2x + 3
g(x) = x - 9

f(x) + g(x)
= (2x + 3) + (x - 9)
= 2x + x + 3 - 9
= 3x - 6
