Let the first number, also the smallest number, be x.

Since they're consecutive even numbers, each number is greater than the previous one by 2.

Therefore, we can write this:

x + (x + 2) + (x + 4) = 270

3x + 6 = 270

3x = 264

x = 88

Therefore, your answer should be 88.
