The annual snowfall in city A is 61.9 inches. This is 14.5 inches more than six times the snowfall in city B. Find the annual snowfall for city B.

If A is 14.5 more inches than 6 times the snowfall in city B, then
A=6B+14.5
61.9=6B+14.5
Subtract 14.5 from both sides.
47.4=6B
Divide both sides by 6.
B=7.9 or 7.9 inches
