Solve the system by substitution.
y=-4x
y=x-5

You would plug in y into the other equation.
-4x = x-5
Put x variables on one side
-4x - x = -5
-5x = -5
x=1
Then plug in 1 for x in any equation
y = 1 - 5
y = -4
So the answers are x=1 and y=-4
