40 girls and boys have planned for annual function. They are in a ratio of 2 girls to 6 boys. How many boys are there?

Essentially this means for every 5 people there are three boys.  Therefore since 40/5 = 8 it would mean there are 8 groups of 5.  Then that would mean 3 for every group therefore 8x3=24 boys.
